Two teens were arrested on Wednesday after being accused of stealing a person’s car keys at a Target in Miami-Dade and taking their car, authorities said.

One of the teens, 16, was charged with robbery/carjacking and attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while the other teen, 17, was charged with robbery carjacking.

NBC6 is not identifying the suspects because they are minors.

According to authorities, the victim parked her vehicle at the Target parking lot and entered the store when the 17-year-old approached her, told her he had a stain on his shirt and asked her to take a picture.

An arrest report said that while the 17-year-old was talking to the victim, the other teen went behind the victim and forcibly took her keys that were in her front pocket. The teen then ran out of the store, got into the victim’s car and locked the door.

While in the victim’s car, the report said, the victim stood behind the vehicle and was almost hit when the teen started to back the car out of the parking space. The teen then drove several feet away, and the other teen got into the passenger side door.

As the two fled, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office air support followed the vehicle that ended up on 16000 NW 7 Ave., where the teens got out of the car and were taken into custody, the report said.

The teens were then taken to the Northside District, where they provided a video-recorded confession after being read their Miranda Rights.

They were then charged.
