Leosbey Cuesta De Armas faced a judge for the first time in Lee County. He was ordered to remain in jail without bond.

Cuesta De Armas stayed silent as Judge Zachary M. Gill announced the decision. “Sir, the state has filed a motion to hold you without bonds.

That motion will be set for hearing in front of the judge. Branding you will be held without bond in the meantime,” said Judge Gill. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 8, just before 6 p.m.

Deputies reported that the victim, who traveled from Hialeah to visit friends and decorate for Christmas, was found with multiple stab wounds.

A witness informed investigators they saw a pantry door open and then saw Cuesta De Armas stabbing the victim.

Deputies said Cuesta De Armas fled the scene but was found the next day in Hardee County. He led troopers on a brief pursuit, crashed into a pole, and was subsequently arrested.

Both Cuesta De Armas and the victim are from Hialeah. Cuesta De Armas faces charges of second-degree murder and burglary with battery. He will return to court next month.
