TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A 13-year-old Nims Middle School student was found with an 8-inch steak knife on Thursday, according to a press release from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.
The knife was discovered after a School Resource Deputy was notified that a 13-year-old 6th grader had a knife on school grounds and was showing it to other students, per LCSO.

An administrative search was conducted after a school administrator identified the student who admitted to having the knife in their backpack, per LCSO. A search of the student’s backpack revealed an 8-inch steak knife.
The student was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
