1. St. Pete leaders say Tropicana Field roof installation is complete
Crews with the city have completed the installation of the final roof panel on Tropicana Field Stadium, with city leaders saying the work was done ahead of schedule.

2. PIE adds 60+ flights Thanksgiving week, parking expected to fill
Officials at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) expect their four parking lots will hit capacity at some point during Thanksgiving week, a sign that the influx in flights is pushing the small airport toward capacity.

3. Tampa’s Winter Village opens Friday night at Curtis Hixon Park
Winter Village returns to Curtis Hixon Park tonight at 5 p.m., officially launching Tampa’s holiday season.

4. Faith leaders want action taken after USF Muslim students harassed
Muslim and Christian faith leaders are calling for action after a livestreamed harassment of Muslim students during a morning prayer on the University of South Florida campus.

5. Trump administration announces plan for new oil drilling off the coasts of California and Florida
The Trump administration announced on Thursday new oil drilling off the California and Florida coasts for the first time in decades, advancing a project that critics say could harm coastal communities and ecosystems, as President Donald Trump seeks to expand U.S. oil production.

6. Zelenskyy says Ukraine faces choice of losing dignity or risking loss of key partner with U.S. plan
Ukraine faces a hard choice at a pivotal point in its almost four-year fight to defeat Russia’s full-scale invasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Ukrainians in a national address today, pledging to hold constructive discussions with Washington on a U.S. peace proposal in what he called “truly one of the most difficult moments in our history.”

Your Notes for Tonight and Tomorrow

TRAFFIC NOTES | There is now an easier way to get from Memorial Highway (State Road 60) to Independence Parkway in Tampa. A new flyover ramp just opened that connects the two roads at Exit 2-B on Memorial Highway. Drivers will exit to the left. FDOT asks you use caution in that area, as construction still continues on the widening project on Memorial Highway near Tampa International Airport. Looking ahead to next week, there is a nightly closure to watch out for at the downtown Tampa interchange — the southbound I-275 ramp to I-4 eastbound will be closed. That is from from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday.

WEEKEND SPORTS | The Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Washington Capitals tomorrow night, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. In college football action tomorrow, USF is at UAB (3 p.m.), Florida hosts Tennessee (7:30 p.m.) and Miami is at Virginia Tech at noon. And in NFL action, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are at the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night, with kickoff set for 8:20 p.m.

COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR | The Annual Uptown Community Health Fair is set for tomorrow in Tampa. The free event will include health screenings and wellness information, activities and giveaways, free turkeys while supplies last, and more. It takes place from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 14013 North 22nd St. For more details, click here.

JAZZ FESTIVAL | The 35th annual Suncoast Jazz Festival is taking place tonight and this weekend in Clearwater. Over 75 musicians from around the country will perform all weekend, day and night, inside Clearwater’s Sheraton Sand Key Resort. For ticket information and more details, click here.

ATTRACTIONS | Universal Orlando’s annual Holidays celebration kicks off today and runs through Jan. 4. Guests can enjoy iconic returning seasonal experiences at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure such as Grinchmas at Seuss Landing, Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s, along with some new offerings, all while being surrounded by festive decor — which can even be seen in select worlds at Universal Epic Universe. Holiday-themed menu items, merchandise and add-on experiences will be available as well.

As we look ahead to Thanksgiving and Black Friday this 2025, the holiday giving season really ramps up, and one Bay area teen is showing the way for others to do more community service while getting inspired by his dad’s own service. 

Paxton Dulski, a senior at Clearwater’s Calvary Christian High School, has made it his passion project to organize Toys for Tots collection sites.
