ST. PETERSBURG — New wave, post-punk singer Lene Lovich will perform on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 8 p.m., at Ferg’s Entertainment Complex, 1320 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.
Tickets start at $31.56. Visit www.fergssportsbar.com.
Lovich, who could count John Lennon and Frank Zappa among her fans, recently launched her first North American tour in 35 years. She moved to London in the mid-1970s, forming a band with her partner Les Chappell. She soon made a name for herself with her flamboyant style and effervescent live performances. She came to the attention of Oval Music moguls Charlie Gillett and Gordon Nelki, who had recently helped to launch the careers of Ian Dury and Elvis Costello. They took Lovich to the same independent record label, Stiff Records, that had been at the vanguard of punk and new wave in the UK.
Lovich rocketed to the top of the UK charts with her second single on Stiff, the unforgettable “Lucky Number,” in 1979. The success of the single propelled her debut album “Stateless” to instant cult status, where it remains to this day, a classic of its time and hugely influential on the burgeoning 1980s post-punk goth subculture. Her second album, “Flex,” released in 1980, was arguably even more influential in the United States than “Stateless.”

From the underground punk scene to major labels and influential indie labels, with a rich catalog of intense, meaningful, and emotionally driven albums, Thrice is a singular entity that gains more significance with each new release among their fans.
The steady and consistent lineup of Dustin Kensrue (vocals/guitar), Teppei Teranishi (guitar), Eddie Breckenridge (bass), and Riley Breckenridge (drums) continually evolves in sound and substance, exploring questions beneath the surface and refusing to accept easy answers or tired formulas.
From their earliest releases to the bold exploration of “Vheissu” (2005), the “creative milestone” (AltPress) of “Beggars” (2009), the poetic and brooding “Major/Minor” (2011), and their post-hiatus rebirth with “To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere” (2016), Thrice built a reputation as a band for musicians, a band for songwriters, and a group with consistent integrity willing to take artistic and commercial risks.
“Horizons/West,” their 2025 full-length studio album, arrives as a companion to 2021’s “Horizons/East.” It continues the themes and sonic ambitions of its predecessor while standing entirely on its own.

Matisyahu’s long and winding career includes the chart-topping albums “Light” (2009), “Youth” (2006), and “Spark Seeker” (2012). Fear Factory
ST. PETERSBURG — Industrial metal band Fear Factory will perform on Monday, Oct. 27, 7 p.m., at Jannus Live, 200 First Ave. N., St. Petersburg.
Tickets start at $39.45. Visit www.jannuslive.com.
Unleashing influential albums with devastating anthems for over 30 years, Fear Factory is widely recognized as both crucial and innovative in extreme metal circles. The band manufactured, deconstructed, and reinvented a sound that reverberates across several subgenres. They perfected an explosive blend of staccato paint-stripping riffs, industrial-tinged drums, electronic flourishes, and a scream/sing dichotomy, all of which became staples in heavy music, ever since the group first emerged in Los Angeles.
Fear Factory continues to headline major festivals. The band has earned several awards from the international sales charts. They have toured with legends such as Black Sabbath, Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Metallica, as well as taking the stage at three Ozzfests. Fear Factory has influenced generations of bands who achieved multiplatinum success.
But it’s the group’s commitment to unrelenting extremity and creative authenticity that ensured its place in heavy metal history, from the touchstone masterpiece “Demanufacture” to the similarly dominating “Genexus.”
Jannus Live

Despite releasing a series of albums in the ensuing years, Lamp remained virtually unknown outside of Asia. In 2021, their song “Yume Utsutsu” was used in several viral TikTok videos, bringing the band into the spotlight. Since then, their music has become popular in Europe and North America. “Dusk to Dawn,” their most recent album, was released in 2023.

Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials
SAFETY HARBOR — Chicago blues masters Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials — recently inducted into the Blues Foundation’s Blues Hall of Fame — will perform on Friday, Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m., at the Safety Harbor Art & Music Center, 706 Second St. N., Safety Harbor.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Visit www.safetyharborartandmusiccenter.com.
In Chicago, a city overflowing with unrivaled blues talent, world-renowned Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials have been standing tall for almost 30 years. The band’s big sound, fueled by Lil’ Ed’s gloriously rollicking slide work and deep blues string bending, along with his rough-edged, soulful vocals, is as real and hard-hitting as Chicago blues gets.
Lil’ Ed Williams comes to the blues naturally. His uncle, Chicago slide guitar king and master songwriter J.B. Hutto, taught him how to feel, not just play the blues. Nine albums and thousands of performances later, Lil’ Ed is now universally hailed as a giant of the genre.
Members of Lil’ Ed and The Blues Imperials include bassist (and Ed’s half-brother) James “Pookie” Young, guitarist Mike Garrett and drummer Kelly Littleton. The group has remained together for nearly 30 years, the band fueling Ed’s songs with their rock-solid, road-tested, telepathic musicianship. In 2016, the band released “The Big Sound Of Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials” on Alligator Records. The CD features Lil’ Ed’s incendiary playing and playful, passionate singing, with the ragged-but-right Blues Imperials cooking like mad alongside him. Produced by Williams and Alligator president Bruce Iglauer, it is a tour-de-force of authentic, deeply rooted Chicago blues.
Safety Harbor Art & Music Center
Selwyn Birchwood
SAFETY HARBOR — International Blues Challenge winner Selwyn Birchwood and his band will return to the stage on Saturday, Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m., at the Safety Harbor Art & Music Center, 706 Second St. N., Safety Harbor.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Visit www.safetyharborartandmusiccenter.com.
On his 2023 Alligator Records release “Exorcist,” Birchwood “delivers the most far-reaching, musically adventurous album of his career,” according to promoters. Recorded in Florida and produced by Tom Hambridge, each of the 13 songs was written and arranged by Birchwood.
Birchwood first hit the blues scene in 2011 with the self-released, self-produced “FL Boy.” After winning the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, beating 150 other bands, Birchwood found doors swinging open.
He took a big step forward in 2014 with his Alligator Records debut album, “Don’t Call No Ambulance.” The album earned rave reviews from critics and won both the Living Blues Award and the Blues Music Award for Best New Artist Debut. He followed in 2016 with fan-favorite “Pick Your Poison” and, in 2021, with the groundbreaking “Living in a Burning House.” He won the BMA Song of the Year Award for that album’s “I’d Climb Mountains.”
In 1985 in Orlando, Birchwood picked up his first guitar at age 13. By age 19, he was playing with Texas-born blues legend Sonny Rhodes. Ultimately, Rhodes insisted Birchwood go to college and held the guitar spot in his band open for him whenever he was available.
Birchwood earned an MBA from the University of Tampa.
“I challenged myself to get that degree,” Birchwood says on his official website. “These days, it’s not good enough to just be a good player.”
Combining the musical lessons learned from Rhodes and his business acumen, Birchwood, now living in Tampa, formed the Selwyn Birchwood Band in 2010.

TAMPA — Lebanon Hanover will perform on Saturday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m., at the Orpheum, 14802 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa.
Tickets start at $52.82. Visit www.theorpheum.com.
Lebanon Hanover is a Swiss-British music duo formed in 2010 in Sunderland, England. Their music is an ice-cold reply to the alienated world coming from two warm beating hearts. The duo of Larissa Iceglass and William Maybelline appear as true romantics of the modern age, admiring William Wordsworth, fascinated by the beauty of art nouveau aesthetics, exploring British seashores and forests at night as well as inspired by the urbanism of Berlin.
In 2025, Lebanon Hanover return with “Asylum Lullabies,” a collection of songs to listen while you wait to see your favorite psychiatrist.
Nearly five years after the release of “Sci-Fi Sky,” Lebanon Hanover’s new album is the evolution of an even colder, more caustic sound by a band that has dominated the Post Punk landscape for over a decade. “Asylum Lullabies” is a very heavy album about dealing with mental health struggles, a breakup, and ongoing wars, and the current horror in the world, ultimately leaving one consumed with dread, fear, and a constant feeling of being crushed. Everything falls apart at the same time.
