Surveillance cameras captured thieves smashing through the front door of a smoke shop in Fort Lauderdale and stealing hundreds of dollars’ worth of product.
On early Monday morning, someone threw a rock through the front door glass, and the alarm went off, said Lexie, an employee at Snoopy’s Smoke Shop. Seconds later, someone puts their hand through the shattered glass, unlocks the door, and three people walk inside. One of them is heard saying, “There’s an alarm.”
“They just walked in, started looking around, handpicking what flavor they wanted for the vapes,” Lexie said
Over the next several seconds, Lexie said the thieves grabbed vapes and other products, and then ran away.
“This is a mom and pop shop, a small business, so it takes out of the owner and us too, because this is way over a thousand dollars in repairs and products,” Lexie said. “They’re kids, they really didn’t know what they were doing, they’re doing something stupid that could mess up their life.”
It’s the third time this week thieves have targeted a smoke or vape shop in Broward County. Police are searching for the people who broke into two businesses in Margate.
Police have not said if these are the same people breaking into these businesses or if they’re connected.
Lexie has a message for the three who targeted her store.
“It’s not worth it, it took them less than a minute to do that, but getting locked u,p it’s not going to be a minute, it’s going to be months to years depending on what they get charged with,” Lexie said.
