The number of suitors has narrowed for Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin. Per a report from CBS Sports, the momentum to land Kiffin has shifted in favor of LSU with Florida falling behind.

At the earliest, a decision will be released after Ole Miss plays Mississippi State, per a statement from Rebels’ athletic director Keith Carter. Per CBS Sports, sources close to Kiffin say he’s indecisive with decisions of this magnitude.

“According to those who know him well, Kiffin can struggle when making big decisions, which is why so many are hesitant to say definitively what he will do until he signs the contract. As many have pointed out in recent days, it felt like a foregone conclusion at one point that Kiffin was going to take the Auburn job in 2022 before he ultimately decided to stay in Oxford,” CBS’s John Talty wrote.

If there’s a school that can lure Kiffin away from Oxford at this point, it’s LSU. It is a destination job in the SEC with a storied history of national championships. It possesses all of the necessary resources its next leader could ask for, and Kiffin might not be able to turn down the offer.

LSU’s coaching job became available after a blowout loss at home to Texas A&M in Week 9. Brian Kelly was dismissed the following day and Frank Wilson has filled the interim role.
