The college football world nearly witnessed a horrific accident during this Saturday’s game between No. 13 Miami and Virginia Tech.

Carson Beck powered Miami to a 34-17 win over Virginia Tech, completing 27-of-32 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns. His top target was Malachi Toney, who had 12 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown.

During this afternoon’s ACC showdown, Toney had a 56-yard catch-and-run for the Hurricanes. As he was being pushed out of bounds, however, he collided into a woman on Miami’s sideline.

Unfortunately for the woman standing on the sideline, she got popped by Toney while he was stumbling at full speed. He was unable to stop his forward momentum in time, which led to her flying a few feet.

Although it might seem like an exaggeration to some, the woman standing on Miami’s sideline nearly went flying into a railing. It could’ve been an awful scene for everyone at Lane Stadium.

Fans react to this collision.

“That could have been really bad,” one fan wrote. “Wtf.”

“There are too many people on the sidelines of games at some point a conversation has to be had in the name of safety to clear it up a bit,” a second fan said.

“Maybe James Franklin can get them to invest in some padding for the walls and railings,” another person commented.

“The stands are so close to the sideline,” a social media user added. “The stadium is dangerous.”

This was Virginia Tech’s last home game of the 2025 season.

Hopefully, the Hokies will consider making a few changes to Lane Stadium before the 2026 season begins.
