STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — A teen with a need for speed fled deputies during a traffic stop with multiple passengers in his car; when arrested, he said, “It was dumb” for him to flee.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) announced on Wednesday, that Anthony Dicicco, 18, sped past deputies along Federal Highway and NW Wright Boulevard. When deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop he refused to pull over, leading to a short pursuit.
MCSO says because of his reckless driving and high speeds, deputies terminated the pursuit out of safety concerns, but the hunt for the suspect continued.

Deputies say it was a short time later when Dicicco was seen again. That’s when MCSO deputies did a VIT maneuver which ended the 18-year-old’s joyride. Deputies say after the car was disabled, five teenage passengers began piling out of the vehicle.
When Dicicco was removed from the vehicle, deputies asked him why he ran.
“I don’t know it was dumb,” the teen responded.
