Tampa Fire Rescue said it responded to a trash fire on S. Westland Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. After arriving, crews reportedly found heavy smoke and flames on the front porch of the structure.

Officials say the Circle K and an apartment complex adjacent to the building were evacuated out of precaution.

Crews were able to control the fire within 30 minutes.

As of 10 p.m., fire rescue officials say the westbound and eastbound lanes of W. Kennedy Boulevard between South Howard and S. Albany Avenues are shut down as crews are still on scene wrapping up hot spots.

No one was found inside the building, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
