TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Supporters of Florida A&M University can now give back by rounding up change with the FAMU Change app.
The university announced the launch of the micro-donation platform on Tuesday. The app is designed to turn everyday purchases into financial support for the university.
FAMU Change allows supporters to automatically round up purchases to the nearest dollar amount when using a debit or credit card. That spare change will go to support FAMU students.
The university said one way these funds will be used is to support the relaunch of the “Life Gets Better” scholarship, which pays homage to President Emeritus Frederick S. Humphries.
When spare change amounts reach $5, they are donated directly to FAMU, the university explained.

“Every coffee, every tank of gas―it all adds up to something bigger,” FAMU president Marva Johnson said. “Together, we’re building a stronger FAMU, one transaction at a time.”
According to the announcement from FAMU, just 4,000 app users could generate over $100,000 each year.
“The FAMU Change app is a great way to allow your spare change to multiply into scholarships and support for the College of Love and Charity. When we come together, we do more than make change; we become the change,” said Brandi Tatum-Fedrick, Ed.D., acting vice president, University Advancement and executive director, FAMU Foundation, Inc.
The FAMU Change app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
