The School District of Lee County hosted its first Educator Signing Day, celebrating education graduates who committed to teaching in Lee County schools.
The event, themed “eLEEvate: Where Futures Rise,” marked a significant step in strengthening the teacher pipeline through community partnerships.
“Our future educators are rising, just like our hot air balloon theme suggests,” said Inez Mata, Talent Acquisition Coordinator. “Signing Day is about celebrating the heart, passion, and commitment these graduates are bringing into our schools.”
Regional Superintendent Chuck Vilardi emphasized the importance of local teacher recruitment and celebrated the interns’ dedication to serving the students of Lee County.
The ceremony featured introductions of each intern by their cooperating teacher and principal, along with surprise appearances from former educators who inspired the graduates. A video montage showcased the impact these future teachers have already made.
The event highlighted partnerships with Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida SouthWestern State College, which help prepare interns for success in the teaching profession.
