FORT PIERCE – A Fort Pierce woman who spent time in the St. Lucie County Jail in October on a battery charge against a tenant was arrested again on Nov. 23, this time on a battery charge against her mother, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Kristi Lee Stewart, 38, of the 5200 block of Seagrape Drive, Fort Pierce was in St. Lucie County Jail on a $6,000 bond as of Nov. 25, on misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting an officer without violence, according to jail records.

According to sheriff’s office reports, Dawn Marie Murray, 60, of Port St. Lucie, who went to her daughter’s home at about 6 p.m., got into an argument with Stewart, who allegedly grabbed Murray, tried to strike her and then spat on her.

When officers arrived, Stewart spoke with them outside the house, but then started to go inside the house, according to sheriff’s office reports.

Stewart, who officers said appeared to be alcohol impaired, was physically detained by an officer, who asked Stewart to stop, and then she was put into a patrol car, according to sheriff’s office reports.

Stewart told officers that Murray followed Stewart out of the house and struck Stewart first, hitting Stewart in the mouth, causing a tooth to cut Stewart’s lip, according to sheriff’s office reports.

Because both women alleged battery against each other, officers took both into custody and transported them to the jail, according to sheriff’s office reports. Murray was released without posting bond, according to jail records.

In October, Stewart was arrested on a battery charge when a man who was renting a room from Stewart claimed she unlawfully entered the house and hit him, according to sheriff’s office reports.
