TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee man has pleaded guilty to “distribution of child pornography and receipt of child pornography,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.
Richard Alan Spivey, 62, faces 15 to 40 years in prison along with lifetime supervision upon release due to his prior convictions relating to sexual abuse or sexual conduct involving a minor, the attorney’s office wrote in a press release Tuesday.

The 62-year-old’s guilty plea comes after Tallahassee Police received a Cybertip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in July 2024, per the release.
The report alleged that Spivey “uploaded child pornography to a social media platform when sending it to another user as part of his chat messages,” the attorney’s office said.

The investigation also revealed that he was a registered sexual predator based on his prior sex crimes conviction.
As a result, authorities obtained search warrants for Spivey’s social media account and cell phone, with a search of the cell phone leading to the “discovery of online between the defendant and others during which he received and distributed child pornography videos,” according to the release.
He’s expected to be sentenced February 2.
