Eggers to serve as County Commission chair
Commissioner Dave Eggers has been unanimously elected to serve as County Commission chair for 2026. Commissioner Chris Latvala was also unanimously elected to serve as vice chair.
Eggers currently serves as vice chair under outgoing Chair Brian Scott and represents single-member District 4 in north Pinellas. He was first elected to the board in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022.
The Chair of the Pinellas County Commission is responsible for leading meetings and work sessions, representing the Commission at community events, coordinating commissioner committee assignments, and supporting the effective operation of county government.
CFY aids cheer groups with $200K donation
CFY, a major support of youth athletics, says it has contributed more than $200,000 in equipment and registration fees to all 17 football/cheer organizations across Pinellas County in 2025.
The company’s donations supported approximately 5,000 participants in football and cheer programs.
Fred Miller, CFY Board Chair, emphasized the organization’s commitment with its recent expansion in Pinellas County: “CFY is dedicated to ensuring every child has access to quality athletic programs, regardless of financial circumstances. These opportunities build teamwork, provide mentorship, and develop life skills that prepare youth for future success. In two short years we have reached every program from Tarpon Springs to south St. Petersburg!”
Established in 1972, CFY proudly supports youth athletics programs and organizations with an emphasis on skill-building activities, reaching over 15,000 Pinellas County youth annually and expanding. Funding efforts are aimed at providing the children of Pinellas County with the opportunity to participate in their chosen activity unhindered by costs.
Say ‘I Do’ to Winter Wonderland at Clerk’s office
CLEARWATER — Couples dreaming of a magical winter wedding can celebrate their special day at the Pinellas County Clerk’s Winter Wonderland Wedding Ceremony Room at the downtown Clearwater Courthouse.
Through Jan. 30, 2026, the Clerk’s office is transforming its ceremony room into a serene, snowy scene complete with whimsical winter décor and festive photo backdrops. Winter Wonderland is open to walk-ins Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Couples may bring up to 10 guests, and children are invited to create a personalized ornament to hang on the Winter Wonderland’s tree for future couples to enjoy.
Additional services include winter-themed commemorative wedding certificates for $5 and photographs for $10. A traditional (non-themed) wedding ceremony room will remain open for couples who prefer a classic setting.
A valid marriage license is required prior to any ceremony. Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days from the date of issuance.
