TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WWSB) – Travel and tourism generated $133.6 billion in economic impact in Florida in 2024, saving the state’s more than 9 million households nearly $2,000 each in taxes, according to a new study by Visit Florida.
Key 2024 highlights:
143 million visitors to Florida.$120.1 billion from U.S. visitors; $14.8 billion from international visitors.For every $1 spent by a visitor, $0.99 remained in Florida; $0.59 of every dollar supported worker pay.Tourism sustained 1.8 million jobs and $79.9 billion in wages (including $44.0 billion in direct wages).Tourism generated $33.6 billion in federal, state, and local taxes — helping save Florida’s more than 9 million households nearly $2,000 each annually.The travel & tourism sector accounted for 7.8% of Florida’s nominal Gross State Product (GSP).
