ORLANDO, Fla — One of the busiest travel days of the year is underway.
While more than 4.2 million Floridians are set to hit the roads this year, close to two million travelers will be passing through Orlando International Airport this holiday weekend.
On Wednesday alone, almost 154,000 people will fly in and out of MCO.
Although airport officials anticipate a lot of passengers moving through the terminals, Greater Orlando Aviation Authority officials say they are ready.
And they want to remind travelers of a couple things before they make their way to the airport:
Be patient
Download the MCO app to figure out parking ahead of time.
For those who are concerned about parking, they’re being advised to use the parking reservation option.
All of the parking lots and parking garages are going to be open. overflow will be open if needed.
It may have been less than two weeks since the end of the shutdown, but GOAA says there was no major impact to the airport’s operations because of call-outs.
“Operations here did not really falter because of the shutdown,” said Angela Starke with Orlando International. “And that is thanks to the great integrity and commitment and dedication of our federal partners who came to work every day despite not being paid and so we did not see a big fall off on operations as a lot of airports do.”
