PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A Port St. Lucie city employee triggered a lockdown at City Hall after allegedly making electronic threats to kill or cause bodily harm on social media, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department.
According to PSLPD, at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the city had received information that a city employee, identified as Shemar Antwan Jerome, had made threats to kill or cause bodily harm on social media. The police department says, out of an abundance of caution, Port St. Lucie City Hall was placed on a brief lockdown to ensure public safety.

PSLPD detectives responded to the scene and found there were no threats directed toward the city or any of its employees, police say.
The investigation later found, Jerome, 24, made threats through social media, with the catalyst stemming from a domestic-related matter, according to the police report. Probable cause was established, and Jerome was booked on counts of written electronic threats to kill or cause bodily harm and violation of out-of-state probation.
The police department says the Port St. Lucie City Hall was notified of the arrest, and the suspect’s credentials have since been revoked.
Police say at this time the investigation is active and ongoing.
