TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – In just a few days, the parking lot at Werner Hyundai in Tallahassee will be filled with donations for WCTV’s annual Kindness Day, happening Thursday, Dec. 4.
Each year, our team is blown away by the generosity of our viewers in the Big Bend and South Georgia. The donations we receive make a difference right here in our community.
Kindness Day supports Second Harvest of the Big Bend, the Foundation for Leon County Schools and Toys for Tots.
To support the Tallahassee Chapter of Toys for Tots, you can bring unwrapped toys for kids of all ages, including infants and teenagers.
The Foundation for Leon County Schools is accepting school supplies and bicycles. The bikes will go to middle and high schoolers who aren’t able to ride the bus, but still need a way to get to school.
Second Harvest of the Big Bend is encouraging people to donate nonperishable food items as some Big Bend residents may have to choose between putting food on the table or buying gifts for their loved ones.
This year, Second Harvest will be holding a food giveaway a week after Kindness Day with food collected during the event, so you can see exactly where your donations go.
In the past ten years of Kindness Day, you have helped us collect 19,253 pounds of food, 214 bikes, 113 bins of toys and $127,756.89 in monetary donations.
If you can’t make it out to Werner Hyundai on Dec. 4 but still want to give, you can make financial donations to any of the three organizations here.
This year, we hope you’ll join us for our 10th annual Kindness Day and help show the community what we can accomplish when we all give back!
