Florida State is set to take on its final opponent of the 2025 season. Traditionally, it will be against the Florida Gators on Saturday night. The Seminoles are looking for their second consecutive win in Gainesville.
The Gators come into this game with a defense that isn’t very good. They’re the fourth-worst unit in the SEC in total defense, and they allow the third-most rushing yards. The Seminoles have the No. 2 offense in the ACC in total yards and lead the conference in rushing, but those numbers are a bit tricky with some of the easy opponents they’ve faced.
Here are the offensive keys for Florida State when they take on Florida.
Tommy Castellanos must be efficient
Castellanos has been consistently erratic with his play in 2025 when it comes to accuracy and his decision-making process. That can’t happen against Florida on the road. This needs to be his best performance.
Establish the run early and often
As mentioned before, Florida isn’t good at defending the run. Florida State needs to use running backs Gavin Sawchuk, Ousmane Kromah, and Sam Singleton Jr., along with quarterback Tommy Castellanos, to control the clock on Saturday afternoon.
Let the Duce get loose
Duce Robinson is having a monster year as he leads the ACC with 1,021 receiving yards. His 6-foot-6 frame and athleticism have been a nightmare for opposing defenses all season, and that shouldn’t change against Florida.
Offensive line has to be solid
One of the better units for Florida State this year has been the offensive line, thanks to Herb Hand. They need to establish the line of scrimmage early and let the running game of FSU control the tempo and eliminate the Gators’ home crowd.
Cash in on red zone opportunities
Being on the road is tough, and it’s enhanced when a team is on the road. Florida State can make this game very difficult on Florida if they can score touchdowns in the red zone, seeing as the latter only averages 19 points per game.
