Florida State can still clinch a bowl game berth on Saturday if it manages to seal its second straight road win over Florida when the two teams collide at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The Seminoles triumphed in Gainesville when they last made the trip down I-75 in 2023, having won two of the last three matchups against the Gators.

Neither of these teams has flattered to impress so far this season, but Mike Norvell’s side at least still has something tangible to fight for as it looks to close out the season 6-6. The same can’t be said for 3-8 Florida, who will most certainly not be featuring in the post-season, no matter how well it manages to perform come Saturday.

Florida State has sought to give the organization a pregame boost by announcing that Norvell will return to coach the team next season. That news has yielded a mixed reaction in light of such a mediocre season, though he hopes the assurance of some continuity next season will at least give his players a boost.

And they could really do with it after a sub-par defeat to NC State last time out. The Gators, meanwhile, are coming off the back of a demoralizing defeat to Tennessee last weekend and can afford to throw caution to the wind in pursuit of the slightest glimmer of hope to end the campaign.
