GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) -Key mistakes and breakdowns doomed the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday, much as they have all year. Florida’s Jadan Baugh bullied the ‘Noles for 266 yards on 38 carries and two touchdowns as the Gators ended FSU’s season, 40-21 in Gainesville.
The Seminoles started the game in a 10-0 hole following an opening drive field goal from the boot of UF’s Trey Smack and then a five yard touchdown pass from DJ Lagway to J. Michael Sturdivant.
The Florida offense rarely struggled to move the ball against FSU, racking up 440 total yards and converting six of 13 third downs on the day.
Florida State would respond offensively in the second quarter, a touchdown pass to Macai Danzy and then a QB keeper was the ‘Noles answer to a Lagway pass to Tony Livingston that would see Florida take a 17-14 advantage into the halftime locker room.
Florida would be forced to punt on its opening drive out of the half, but again the Seminoles failed to take advantage. The ‘Noles would roll the dice on fourth and one in its own territory and would turn the ball over on downs. FSU would finish the day two of four on fourth down.
The Gators answered immediately, driving the short field and eventually cashing in on a three yard TD pass to Hayden Hansen to stick the dagger into the visitors, 24-14.
Baugh’s day on the ground was the first over 200 yards for a Gator since 2004 and the second most over in program history.
Florida State’s season ends with a 5-7 record while UF will end 2025 at 4-8.
