MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A Clay County family is demanding changes from DoorDash after they say their Ring camera recorded a delivery driver mishandling their food order.
Trena Brown shared the video with News4JAX and said it shows her daughter’s delivery being dropped off.
“Just disgusting,” Brown said after rewatching the video. “It’s disgusting.”
On the first watch, the issue isn’t obvious. But when the driver goes to set the food down, a container of boneless wings slips from his hands.
The lid opens, and a wing falls onto the ground. The video then shows the driver picking up the fallen wing, placing it back into the container, licking his fingers, wiping the ground with his foot and walking away.
Brown said luckily, her family watched the video before eating.
“And she said mom all he [the driver] had to do was knock on the door and say ‘Hey, it was really one boneless wing, out of 12 that dropped on the ground. I dropped this just wanted to let you know.’”
Brown said after this incident, she believes changes need to be made, starting with the driver.
“If he can’t deliver food with due care, then maybe there’s something else out there for him to do,” Brown said. “Secondly, on DoorDash’s behalf, I’m not sure what the training is but maybe it’s time to bring the drivers in and require them to have some type of training.”
News4JAX reached out to DoorDash for comment on this story.
They replied in part saying:
On background, this is well below the level of service we aim to provide on every delivery and certainly not the experience we want customers to have when they order dinner from DoorDash. Our team is investigating and has issued a warning to the Dasher.
Jenn Rosenberg, Senior Manager, Head of Trust & Dasher Experience Communications
Brown said that she has not ordered food delivery since the incident.
News4JAX has followed up with DoorDash to ask how long the investigation will take. The company has not yet responded.
