It has only been open for four months, but Daniel’s restaurant in Coral Gables has just been named one of the top 10 steakhouses in North America.

The steakhouse, which opened in late July in the former space of the Italian restaurant Fiola, was ranked no. 9 by the World’s Best 101 Steak Restaurants.

The creation of Gioia Hospitality, the first Daniel’s restaurant opened on U.S. 1 in Fort Lauderdale in October 2024. The upscale steakhouse was such a success that Tom Angelo, founder and CEO of Gioia Hospitality, decided to convert his restaurant Fiola into a second location of Daniel’s.

Daniel’s was immediately popular with Fiola fans and diners eager to try the restaurant’s Miami Spice offerings. It wasted no time making a mark: Last month, Daniel’s Miami hosted The Rare Tour from World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants, the first time the tour has been held in the United States.

Angelo said he was humbled by the recognition.

“What we have achieved in just four months is truly remarkable and is a testimony to the incredible commitment of our team,“ he said. “We will continue to strive to push the envelope to redefine the steakhouse experience working with our ranch and farm partners around the world.”

Gioia Hospitality is also made up of managing director Kassidy Angelo; culinary director Daniel Ganem; director of operations Scott Ozler and wine and beverage director Daniel Bishop.

Also making the North American list was the wildly popular Sunny’s Steakhouse in Miami’s Little River neighborhood. Led by chef Aaron Brooks, the steakhouse, which started life as a pandemic popup from Will Thompson and Carey Hynes of the now-closed Jaguar Sun, was ranked no. 23 on the list.

Sunny’s, which opened in the fall of 2024, was swiftly named to Bon Appétit’s must-visit new restaurants list. The magazine praised the wood-fired meat, particularly the wagyu skirt steak, as well as Florida seafood entrées and the restaurant’s famous Parker House rolls.

The no. 1 North American steakhouse was Asador Bastian in Chicago, followed by a slew of New York restaurants, one with a Miami sister: Cote New York (2); Jeffrey’s in Austin (3); La Tête D’Or in New York (4); Miller & Lux in San Francisco (5); Gwen in Los Angeles (6); 4 Charles Prime Rib in New York (7); Beefbar in New York (8); and Hawksmoor in New York (10).
