JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – We are tracking some much-needed rain for Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
I know I’m not alone in saying—we really need this water. The area is in a rain deficit, and any soaking we get will help a lot.
For today, I’m expecting about a 30 percent chance of showers, especially along the coast. Early this morning, areas like Brunswick saw some showers. Temperatures through the morning are hanging in the 50s and 60s.
Storm threat: wind gusts, strong storm risk
As we look ahead, tomorrow is going to be the main event, weather-wise.
Expect the rain chances to pick up, and with it, some risk for strong storms across our area. Now, I’m not sounding the alarm—most of what moves through is just what we need for our dry lawns.
But per the National Weather Service, we do have to keep an eye on a few things. Wind gusts could get up to around 20 miles per hour near St. Mary’s and about 17 miles per hour in Brunswick. If instability pops up in any of these storms, there’s also a chance (though isolated) of a tornado cropping up.
Again, don’t panic—just stay weather-aware, and keep checking Exact Track 4D on News4JAX for updates.
Short-term and week-ahead forecast
By around 5 to 7 p.m., some showers may start drifting through the region, mainly heading north. The actual line of storms is expected to push in by about 7 to 8 a.m. tomorrow, possibly lingering through lunch and into the afternoon.
Once this system moves out, high pressure is likely to build in for midweek, which will dry us out for a bit and drop our temperatures below average for a couple of days. Later in the week, there’s another system on track that could bring more rain—again, something I’ll be closely monitoring for you.
