A man was arrested after he repeatedly punched a driver before ramming into their vehicle, Cape Coral police said. The road rage incident happened on Nov. 26 near Chiquita Boulevard and Gleason Parkway.The victim told Cape Coral police officers that he drove around a white Jeep and moved into another lane, but did not cut off the vehicle. He said shortly after he noticed the driver of the jeep, later identified as Thomas Coyle, 31, was continuously honking behind him.According to the Cape Coral Police Department news release, both drivers pulled over, and Coyle approached the man’s driver’s side window. Coyle reportedly yelled and threw multiple punches to the left side of the man’s face after the window was rolled down.The man tried to open the door while Coyle was still hitting him. He yelled for Coyle to stop and was finally able to open his door before pushing Coyle back in self-defense, CCPD said.CCPD officers arrived at the scene to separate the two; however, Coyle went back to his Jeep and intentionally rammed into the man’s vehicle, according to police.The collision knocked the victim to the ground and damaged the man’s vehicle.According to CCPD, Coyle’s passenger claimed the other driver cut them off, leading to Coyle becoming angry and approaching the vehicle.
