Are you an art aficionado, aspiring creative, out-of-towner drawn to glitz and glamour, or a new resident just wondering what all the fuss is about?

Lucky for you, Miami Art Week is for everybody.

The annual event (made up of multiple other events) is back with powerful installments, bustling fairs and tons of photo ops for anyone who loves art (or is just looking to zhuzh up their Instagram feed).

Here’s what it is, how much tickets are going for, what to know about Art Basel, and more.

What is Miami Art Week?

Miami Art Week refers to a series of art fairs and other events hosted each December in the Magic City. This year, events are happening from Monday, Dec. 1 to Sunday, Dec. 7.

Miami Art Week is the time for the public to see and engage with art and for artists to exhibit at more than 1,200 galleries and 20 fairs across Miami and Miami Beach. Among the most famous of these fairs is Art Basel.

And it’s also a time for parties, with lineups that bring high-profile names from across the world to South Florida. Other brands, like hotels and restaurants, will jump on the boost in tourism and foot traffic to host their own events and offer exclusive access and VIP packages for a pretty penny. Even Brightline, a sponsor of Miami Art Week, has unveiled a Caviar & Champagne PREMIUM Experience for travelers who take the train from West Palm Beach, Boca Raton or Fort Lauderdale.

Put it all together, and you’ve got Miami Art Week.

What is Art Basel?

Art Basel is one of the Miami Art Week’s most well-known art fairs, which refers to a large-scale event for displaying and purchasing art. It also visits Hong Kong, Paris and Qatar.

This year, Art Basel in Miami will feature “leading galleries from five continents [showing] significant works by masters of Modern and contemporary art, as well as the new generation of emerging stars.”

Tickets vary from $68 for single-day access for Miami Beach residents and minors to $160 for passes that are valid for the whole weekend.
