PORT ST. LUCIE — A 46-year-old Port St. Lucie man died on Nov. 27 when his Honda Side-By-Side utility terrain vehicle collided with a Cadillac SUV at about 10:10 p.m., at Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Southeast Glover Street, according to Port St. Lucie Police reports.
Riley Welchance II of Port St. Lucie was pronounced deceased at HCA Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce following the accident, according to police reports.
A passenger on the utility terrain vehicle, Ryan Burdick, 24, of Port St. Lucie, also was taken to Lawnwood where he remains in critical condition as of Dec. 1, according to police reports.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the unregistered Honda Side-by-Side,headed east on Port St. Lucie Boulevard, was turning north to Southeast Glover St. During the turn, Welchance crossed in front of a 2021 Cadillac SUV, driven by a woman, traveling west in the middle lane of Port St. Lucie Boulevard.
The Cadillac and the utility terrain vehicle collided, causing Welchance to be ejected entirely and Burdick partially ejected, according to police reports.
The driver of the Cadillac was transported to HCA St. Lucie Medical Center as a precautionary measure and released, according to police reports. An adult male passenger in the Cadillac was uninjured, according to police reports.
