A tragic boat crash in Cape Coral claimed the lives of three people, including Brenna and Craig Millett, leaving the community in mourning.
The incident took place near the Cape Coral Yacht Club, where a friend of the Milletts, Simon Tusha, shared his heart-wrenching experience with WINK News.
“They were sunshine and happiness all the time,” said Tusha, a close friend of Brenna and Craig Millett. “I can’t believe they are gone.”
Tusha was driving his boat in front of the Milletts when he witnessed their boat flip. He immediately jumped into the water to assist, performing CPR on Brenna and managing to get her pulse back. Sadly, she did not survive.
“I came up on a red fish point, which is a no-wake zone, slowed down,” said Tusha. “I was slowing down, I turned around, and I saw them flipping. I started screaming, grabbed the life jackets, got overboard, and tried to get under the boat and find out where the bodies were.
“I was pointing out where they were, where the people were floating. All of their belongings were floating around, so it was hard to discern what was actually a person versus what was just floating in the water.”
Rebecca Knight also lost her life in the crash, while Neil Kirby, the fourth person on the boat, remains in critical condition. Kirby’s father told WINK News that his condition is improving.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission acknowledged the community’s concerns and emphasized that the investigation will take time to determine the cause of the crash.
This incident marks a significant loss for the Cape Coral community.
