‘Armed and dangerous’ Florida teen turns himself in after robbery

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Florida teen wanted in connection with an armed robbery near Dothan is behind bars.

Houston County Sergeant Brandon Barnes tells WDHN that 16-year-old Devonta Balcom turned himself into deputies on Wednesday, November 26. He is charged with one count of robbery in the first degree.

Balcom, from Campbelton, Florida, was on the run since late October days after deputies claimed he robbed someone in the 5000 block of Third Avenue near Dothan.

During the robbery, Balcom shot at someone before fleeing, according to the HCSO.

While WDHN does not typically release the identity of juveniles, the HCSO received permission from a judge to release Balcom’s name and photo after the robbery.
