PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – A Port St. Lucie police officer was injured after being shot while responding to a “disturbance” call on Monday, according to a news release.
Police said as they responded to the 11000 block of SW Lake Park, an officer was shot while investigating the incident.
The injured officer was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Ft. Pierce, according to the release. Officials did not release the condition of the officer.

Police said there is no threat to the community at this time.
“Law enforcement is actively investigating the circumstances and has secured the scene,” the release said in part.
The shooting comes just days after an Indian River County sheriff’s deputy was killed and several others were injured while trying to serve an eviction notice at a home near Vero Beach.
