Jacksonville – Tammy Rogers King , Thomm Jutz and Sean McCarthy just finished a new record with 10 songs focused on the rich history that Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach and surrounding areas hold.
Songs of piracy, slavery, smuggling, shrimping , Boat Building and David Yulee’s cross Florida Railway. It was a train that ran from Fernandina to Cedar Key many years before Henry Flaggler’s Railway to the south.
These songs were recorded in Nashville at Thomm’s private studio. Thomm is a professor at Belmont College where he teaches songwriting and Appalachian music.
All these songs hold a strong Appalachian feel with guitars mandolin, fiddle, and upright base. The Amelia Island Museum thought it would be a great fit for the trio to play and present their new music.
All the songs are on a CD so it is a collector’s item. It is a free event, but a portion proceeds from CD sales and the silent auction go back to museum so they may continue to add to its collection.
Event will be held Sunday, Dec. 7th at 233 S. 3rd. St., Fernandina Beach from 1 – 4pm.
