Clay County’s domestic violence center is seeing record demand for services this year. Here’s how you can help

  • December 2, 2025

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Quigley House, Clay County’s only domestic violence and sexual assault center, said Tuesday it is seeing a record demand in services this year.

According to Quigley House, the center has seen a nearly 20% from last year. Moreover, staff answered more than 4,200 hotline calls and provided over 1,200 counseling sessions to survivors.

Staff said the demand is increasing nationwide, including in Clay County.

According to the center, economic pressures, housing instability, and greater awareness of available resources are driving more survivors to seek help.

“This record-breaking year shows what happens when survivors trust us and the community stands with them,” said Jackie Krug, interim CEO of Quigley House. “We are deeply grateful to our staff, volunteers, and donors for making safety and healing possible. Together, we can meet this growing need and empower every survivor.”

To meet the growing demand, the center is asking for the community’s help this holiday season by donating gifts to survivors and their children, and through monetary donations.

Ways to help

Know the warning signs: Controlling behavior, isolation from friends and family, financial control, threats, intimidation, and physical harm are common indicators. Emotional abuse often appears as constant criticism or humiliation.

If you suspect abuse: Call 911 if someone is in danger. For confidential support, contact Quigley House 904-284-0061 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

Support Quigley House survivors through the Holiday Season 2025 campaign: Your gift provides safety, counseling and hope for survivors. This year’s campaign focuses on giving survivors the gift of peace and security during the holidays.
