Two arrests were made in connection with a January street racing crash that killed a 75-year-old man in Cape Coral.According to the Cape Coral Police Department, on the afternoon of Jan. 10, a white Ford Mustang and a blue Honda Accord were caught on surveillance video racing along Del Prado Boulevard from the intersection of Northeast Pine Island Road.The victim, identified as William J. Garfall, was driving a red Chevrolet Equinox in the 400 block of Del Prado Boulevard North and tried to make a left turn into a business plaza. Police said that is when the Ford Mustang hit the passenger side of Garfall’s vehicle. The collision caused the Mustang to spin and crash into another vehicle before stopping.Witnesses told the CCPD that the Honda Accord made a U-turn after the crash and slowed down as it passed the scene before the driver fled from the area.Garfall was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.According to the CCPD, vehicle data revealed the Ford Mustang was traveling at 99.4 mph in a posted 45 mph zone on Del Prado Boulevard at 3:03 p.m. with other traffic present.Video footage and witness statements helped investigators determine the blue Honda Accord was traveling alongside the Mustang, with both vehicles exceeding 90 mph.On Monday, police arrested both drivers: the driver of the Ford Mustang, Milano Paolo Hlavina, 18, and the driver of the Honda Accord, Jeremy Olivo, 19.Both are facing charges of vehicular homicide.Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated William Garfall was 76 years old.
