Aviles was sentenced to 25 years on each of the three molestation charges he was convicted of, with the sentences to run concurrently.
After prison, he’ll be on probation for the rest of his life and will have to register as a sex offender.
Aviles, who was fired after he was arrested by his own department two years ago, had been accused of molesting three children he knew.
At trial, prosecutors told jurors he touched the three children inappropriately while they swam and played games.
The former officer who spent about 10 years on the force had always denied the allegations, but after hearing the victims testify and after a few hours of deliberations, jurors found Aviles guilty on three of the seven molestation charges he faced.
He had been facing up to life in prison.
