A Miami Beach man was arrested after he allegedly head-butted another driver and threatened to kill three people with a knife during a road-rage incident in the Florida Keys, officials said.

James Varner, 55, was charged with aggravated assault and battery, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

Authorities said the incident began around 3:35 p.m. Monday on Stock Island when the victim drove around a slow-moving vehicle that was being driven by Varner.

Varner followed the victim to a home and approached him while yelling before he head-butted the victim, officials said.

A fight ensued, and two of the victim’s family members came outside to break up the altercation.

That’s when Varner allegedly went to his vehicle, grabbed what was described as a large knife/small machete, and made verbal threats to kill all three of the people, officials said.

No one was seriously injured, and Varner was arrested and booked into jail.
