Southwest Florida has numerous organizations in need of support, especially on Giving Tuesday. One such place is Valerie’s House in Fort Myers, which offers a sanctuary for children dealing with the loss of a loved one.

Molly Flynn, who lost her father at 16, has found solace in Valerie’s House for about a year and a half.

“From the moment that I walked through those doors and sat on this couch. It was, it was like home,” said Flynn.

“Grief is really under looked in a lot of aspects. It’s not really talked about as much as it should be. Especially for children, you kind of bat an eye to it until you realize what it’s actually like for that child. And here at Valerie’s House, it’s everything here is free of charge. They don’t question what you need, why you need it, when you need it, it’s just done right then and there,” said Flynn.

Donations to Valerie’s House can be made through their website at valerieshouse.org.

You can also mail in a donation or contribute through their Amazon wish list.
