Miami Dade College trustees voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve the transfer of a parcel of prime downtown Miami real estate to be used for President Donald Trump’s presidential library.

The district Board of Trustees of Miami Dade College held a special board meeting at the Hialeah campus to discuss the future of the land and retake its vote.

It all has to do with the land in downtown Miami that the college gave away for Trump’s presidential library.

The nearly 3-acre plot of land sits on Biscayne Boulevard next to the Freedom Tower. Currently, it functions as a Miami Dade College parking lot.

The board initially voted on the proposal in September, and on Tuesday the vote to approve the land transfer was unanimous.

Tuesday’s vote came amid an ongoing legal battle over whether the college violated Florida’s Sunshine laws the first time it voted to give away the prime piece of property without any notice to the public.

Last month, a judge blocked Miami Dade College from transferring the property to the state, a ruling that ensures the school keeps the land in its possession until a final verdict is issued in the ongoing lawsuit.

A local activist filed the lawsuit and the trial is scheduled to begin in August.

Miami Dade College announced that the community would be given a second opportunity to address the board of trustees at Tuesday’s meeting. But if members of the public wished to speak, they had to seek permission through an emailed, written request prior to the meeting.
