While drivers throughout Miami-Dade, and those visiting for Miami Art Week and Art Basel, are enjoying another dip in fuel costs, Key Biscayne continues to stand out for all the wrong reasons.

According to the latest GasBuddy report, the average price of regular gasoline in Miami has dropped 9.7 cents over the last week to $3.03 per gallon.

But on the Island’s two gas stations, prices remain stuck at $4.49, making the island one of the most expensive places to fill up in the county.

GasBuddy analysts say much of the country is seeing meaningful relief as refinery maintenance winds down and OPEC boosts production for December. Nationally, the average price briefly dipped below $3 per gallon over the weekend, the lowest level since May 2021. “A few dozen stations are already offering gas under $2 per gallon,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, noting that the trend could continue into the holiday season.

Price gaps across South Florida remain wide. The cheapest station in Miami was selling gas at $2.51 last week while the county’s highest price, outside of Key Biscayne, was $4.39, a $1.88 difference.

Statewide, prices ranged from $2.31 to $4.39 per gallon. Nationally, the average price of gasoline now sits at $2.95, down 8.5 cents in the last week.
