The Cape Coral Police Department arrested a man accused of being connected to a string of vehicle burglaries, residential thefts, and grand thefts affecting several neighborhoods in November.

On November 7, 2025, officers responded to a vehicle burglary on Southwest 26th Avenue, where items like a camouflage jacket and a softball bag were stolen. Surveillance footage captured a male suspect carrying bulky items from the scene.

By November 20, detectives linked Richard Steven Chinn to a growing number of crimes. A new burglary on Southwest 38th Street involved a suspect on a pink bicycle stealing a $1,000 scooter from a garage.

On November 22, Chinn was observed near a newly constructed property on Southwest 26th Place. He fled from officers but was found hiding behind trash cans. He was wearing the stolen camouflage jacket from the November 7 burglary.

Further investigation revealed he discarded the stolen softball bag at a friend’s residence.

On December 2, detectives arrested Chinn at his home, where stolen property was found. He faces charges including burglary, grand theft, and petit theft.
