GULFPORT — A man has been arrested in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured two people riding an electric scooter in Gulfport last week, sheriff’s officials said.

Eugenijus Sviderskas, 77, admitted to driving his van and hearing a loud thud but did not stop, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Lynch, 61, and Kristen Lynch, 42, were riding an electric scooter east on Gulfport Boulevard in the curb lane around 7:20 p.m. Nov. 28 when they were struck from behind near Luana Lane South, according to investigators. The vehicle kept going.

Witnesses called 911 to report two people lying in the road. Both were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Investigators identified the vehicle as a red 1997 Ford Econoline van registered to Sviderskas, of 5820 25th Ave. S. in Gulfport, sheriff’s officials said.

As of Nov. 30, Kristen Lynch was in stable condition and Michael Lynch was critical but stable, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
