A sexual assault lawsuit brought against Conor McGregor involving an alleged incident at the 2023 NBA Finals has been dropped after the plaintiff filed for its dismissal in U.S. District Court.

According to documents obtained by The Athletic, Senior Judge Joan A. Lenard of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice on Dec. 3, barring the woman, identified as ‘Jane Doe’ in the proceedings, from refiling the case.

The lawsuit was filed Jan. 14, 2025, nearly 19 months after the woman alleged that McGregor assaulted her in a men’s restroom at the Kaseya Center following Game 4 of the NBA Finals on June 9, 2023. The Miami Heat organization and the arena were listed as co-defendants in the case.

The alleged victim, described in legal documents as a 49-year-old business executive, had sought compensation “for past and future medical treatment, compensatory damages, and costs, and such other and further relief” as the court deemed necessary.

McGregor denied the accusations.

In a statement to The Athletic in January, McGregor’s lawyer, Barbara Llanes, dismissed the allegations as a “false story.” Llanes noted that a 2023 investigation had concluded without criminal charges and emphasized that, despite the involvement of multiple lawyers and the passage of time, the plaintiff had presented a “false” account.

The Florida state attorney’s office did not pursue criminal charges against McGregor, and the circumstances surrounding the decision to voluntarily withdraw the civil lawsuit have not been made public.

James Dunn, the attorney representing the plaintiff, told The Athletic in a January email that the plaintiff filed a police report on June 11, 2023. Dunn did not respond to requests for comment on Thursday.

McGregor had previously been found liable in a separate sexual assault case in Ireland last November. A High Court jury ordered him to pay more than a quarter-million dollars to a woman who accused him of rape. McGregor’s appeal was dismissed earlier this year.

The former two-division UFC champion has not competed in mixed martial arts since 2021, after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in July. He has publicly said he would like to compete on the UFC card at the White House in June 2026.
