In Tampa, where cigars are akin to wine in Napa Valley, there used to be more than 200 cigar factories—now there are just 25.
A new book of photography by Zack Wittman—“Cigar City: The Legacy of Tampa’s Founding Industry”—is out now and captures not just those remaining factories, but the communities and scenes both inside and outside their walls.
Wittman, together with his co-author, Drew Newman of J.C. Newman Cigar Co., joined The Skinny on WMNF to discuss the book, Tampa’s cigar heritage, and more.
In the second half of the show WMNF was joined in-studio by John Marvin from Florida Open Primaries, who spoke about his movement, and Lenny Guckenheimer, who’s holding a discussion on voting issues in Gulfport on Monday night.
