When a major music festival rolls into town, it brings energy, excitement, and thousands of visitors. But once the music stops and the crowds disperse, an important question remains: What happens to the environment left behind? This December, The Blue Urban Project is partnering with the We Belong Here festival to ensure that the St. Pete Pier isn’t just restored to its original state—but left even better than before.
While the festival organizers are already committed to a private cleanup of the immediate event grounds, this special volunteer initiative goes a step further. The goal is to scour the surrounding areas, preventing windblown debris from entering the Tampa Bay waterways and protecting local marine life.
The Blue Urban Project, a St. Pete-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to sustainable urban development, is calling on music lovers, locals, and environmental advocates to unite for this impactful cause.
