Gov. Ron DeSantis proposes ‘AI Bill of Rights’ amid growing consumer concern

  • December 6, 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling on lawmakers to address artificial intelligence.

During a Thursday press conference, DeSantis proposed an A.I. Bill of Rights.

This legislative proposal is focused on protections for all Floridians when using AI chatbots and deepfakes.

Florida politics:

It also aims to provide safeguards against consumer fraud or insurance claims developed by AI.

“I’m not an AI exceptionalist, I’m an individual and human exceptionalist,” the governor said. “I think new technologies have to be developed in a way that aligns with American values.”

The proposal will also limit the construction and operation of AI data centers in the state.

DeSantis’ comments come as House Speaker Daniel Perez declared next week “Artificial Intelligence Week,” during which lawmakers will meet to discuss many AI-related bills.
