The community is coming together to honor the life of Lt. William “Bill” Garlick, who was tragically killed while riding his motorcycle last Saturday night.

Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., family, friends, and neighbors will gather at the Babcock Field House in Charlotte County to honor Lt. Garlick.

Lt. Garlick was a loving husband, father, and dedicated officer who protected the community.

Crash investigators informed WINK News that Lt. Garlick was riding his motorcycle home after his shift on North Cleveland Avenue and Delft Avenue when another car turned in front of him, causing the collision.

“It’s so unfair that something like that would happen to such a dedicated person,” said one neighbor, expressing the community’s shock.

“My husband and I have a motorcycle, and we’re always alert, watching every which way because people go through lights. It’s terrifying,” said another community member.

His family told WINK News they would love for the community to join in remembering him while also donating to Shop with a Cop.
