High-level discussions on ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict are progressing on dual tracks, with U.S. and Ukrainian officials holding talks in Miami over the past three days, while European leaders prepare for a meeting in London to assess the situation and a U.S.-proposed peace plan.

Representatives from the United States and Ukraine continued their meetings in Miami, Florida, on Saturday, focusing on the U.S.-proposed peace plan. Both sides agreed to advance follow-up negotiations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky participated via video link.

He described the conversation with U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, who is also President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, as “substantive and constructive”.

Zelensky said that Ukraine would continue cooperating with the U.S. to achieve real peace, emphasizing that any proposals must be viable and must not omit critical issues concerning peace, security, and post-war reconstruction.

In a related development, French President Emmanuel Macron announced via social media on Saturday that he will travel to London on Monday to meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Zelensky.

Their discussions will focus on evaluating the current situation in Ukraine and the ongoing negotiations within the framework of the U.S.-proposed peace plan.

Macron stressed that the Ukraine situation impacts the security of the entire European continent, adding that Europe would continue working with the United States to provide security assurances for Ukraine.

In late November, the U.S. proposed a 28-point “peace plan” for Ukraine.

Following talks in Geneva on November 23 involving the United States, Ukrainian, and European representatives, the plan underwent significant revisions.

Recently, the U.S. has held further consultations separately with Ukraine and Russia regarding the proposal.

European leaders have concurrently emphasized the necessity of their role in the peace formulation process.

The two-day 2025 Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) Conference concluded on Friday in Shanghai, where multiple globally leading “China solutions” took center stage.

Under the theme “Brain connects the world, wisdom gathers in Shanghai,” the event gathered research teams from major universities, leading industry developers, and experts across the BCI sector to strengthen the connection between research, application, and policy.

As part of the event, the first BCI competition featured four categories—fatigue detection, emotion recognition, brain-controlled robotic cars, and brain-controlled robotic arms – with 40 out of nearly 100 teams from across China received prizes.

In the BCI Industry Innovation Exhibition Zone, more than a dozen frontier-tech companies presented cutting-edge technologies ranging from key components to comprehensive system-level solutions.

Exhibits spanned the entire technology chain, from underlying hardware to clinical applications, covering fields such as sleep intervention, mental illness treatment, and rehabilitation for degenerative diseases—highlighting the latest trends in BCI development.

“We completed the first domestic clinical trial this March, and next year we will launch large-scale clinical trials,” said an exhibitor named Chen Yaoxu.

Shanghai has established China’s first future industry cluster dedicated to BCI technologies. During the conference, several new innovation platforms—including a BCI service platform and a joint laboratory for digital neuromedicine – were inaugurated.

“We are guided by clinical needs and clinical scenarios. At the same time, we are opening high-quality EEG datasets for enterprises to support their algorithm research and guide them in developing concrete products that truly address real-world needs,” said Wang Zhuoyao, BCI Project manager of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission.
