Leon County author launches second book, hosts giveaway event

  • December 7, 2025

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County author Shonda Knight is releasing a second book focused on showing young boys that they can be whatever they want to be.

Knight’s first book, My Omnilocks: Hair with Endless Looks, launched last year, and encourages young girls to love their hair.

“We need something for our boys,” Knight said. “This is what God put in my spirit.”

My Omnilife: I Can Be Anything has a space for kids to slot their own photo in so they can see themselves in many different career paths.

On Saturday, Knight will be hosting an event and giving away books and drawstring backpacks to elementary-age children while supplies last.

The book’s illustrator, Adam Gipson, will also be at the event.

There will also be live music, speakers from the Florida Civil Rights Museum, the Omega Lamplighters, and Brownsville Preparatory Institute. The event will also feature free food.

The book launch and giveaway is Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fairview Middle School.
