FORT PIERCE — Congrats to the Sunrise Theatre.

Securing the legendary Keb Mo, a once-in-a-lifetime artist, is no small accomplishment.

The musical storyteller is scheduled to perform at the Sunrise Feb. 15.

The five-time Grammy Award-winning guitarist, singer/songwriter is known for his undeniable ability to blend blues with many other genres. Keb Mo is one of the greatest and most prolific collaborators in the music business.

James Taylor, Taj Mahal, Darius Rucker, Bono, Gary Clark Jr., and Susan Tedesci are just a scant few name drops from a very long, distinguished list.

The master guitarist has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to most of those show-stopping award show performances. The singer/songwriter composed music for several television series, and he earned the Lifetime Achievement in Performance in 2021 from the Americana Music Association.

The 74-year-old’s road to fame is long. The proficient guitar player started as a kid in Compton, California playing the trumpet, steel and Congo drums, and the French horn before he moved on to his first guitar, an acoustic Silvertone that cost about $22.

He played with Poppa John Creach from Jefferson Airplane in his 20s and released his first solo album, “Rainmaker,” when he was 29.

“It was a tremendous flop,” he told NewsHour Weekend Special Correspondent Tom Casciato in 2022. “Then 40 came and I hadn’t quit yet, so I said to myself: I must be a musician.”

He was 42 when he released an album under his new moniker Keb Mo, a shortened version of his real name, Kevin Moore. That’s when the accolades started piling up.

“I’m just a lucky guy. I never had a big plan in life but I always put one foot in front of the other and just trusted the moments. I had ambitions to play music but no plans.”

Mo compares his life to Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz.” Dorothy yearns to find the iconic yellow pathway until she realizes she’s standing on it.

“That’s me, I’ve been standing on the yellow brick road the whole time…my whole life.”

Keb Mo and his band are scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m., Feb. 15, 2026. Tickets range from $64.50-$86.50 and may be purchased online at the official sunrisetheatre.com site, by phone at (772) 461-4775; or at the box office window, open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.
