The Florida State Seminoles have reportedly declined their 2025 bowl game invitation, per Brett McMurphy of On3.
Despite a 5-7 finish, Florida State could have technically made a bowl game thanks to NCAA rules that say if there aren’t enough teams with six wins to fill all the available bowl spots, the organization allows 5-7 teams to be selected, prioritizing those with the best Academic Progress Rate (APR). FSU had the second-highest APR out of any 5-7 team in the country, only behind Auburn, which also declined its bowl invitation.
After a maddening 40-21 loss to Florida two weeks ago, it makes sense why Florida State declined the spot. The program had already transitioned to preparing for the next season, with coaches conducting exit interviews and preparing for the transfer portal.
The Seminoles will look to 2026 to build off their 5-7 finish, with their first game welcoming the New Mexico State Aggies to Doak Campbell Stadium on Aug. 29, 2026.
